The rider of this motorcycle, Jeremiah James Johnson of Spring Hill, died of injuries he suffered after leaving Shoal Line Boulevard and crashing into a roadside guardrail and sign post.

WEEKI WACHEE — A Spring Hill man has died of injuries he sustained when he lost control of his motorcycle while driving at high speed on Shoal Line Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Jeremiah James Johnson, 40, was taken to the trauma center at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point after the motorcycle left the road and struck a guardrail and a sign post but he later died.

Johnson crashed at 11:15 a.m. on Sept. 27, near the intersection of Shoal Line Boulevard and Hushpuppy Lane, just south of Weeki Wachee Gardens and the entrance to Rogers Park.

Before the crash, troopers said, Johnson was traveling northbound on Shoal Line Boulevard at high speed, passing other vehicles in a no-passing zone and doing wheel stands. After losing control of the bike, Johnson swerved into the southbound lane of Shoal Line Boulevard and then left the narrow two-lane road and struck the guardrail and sign post.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash and Johnson was wearing a helmet, the Highway Patrol said.
