World of Reptiles slithers into NPR library camp

NEW PORT RICHEY - John Storms brought along a few of his friends Tuesday to New Port Richey Public Library.Scores of youngsters at summer camp got to see about everything that creeps, crawls or slithers during his World of Reptiles show."Ewww," some of the young people squealed as Storms unraveled Jessica the python from her box to extend the snake to her full length of about 15 feet. Jessica weighs about 150 pounds.Storms also introduced other pals, such as a gopher tortoise, baby alligator, boa constrictor and king snake.The expert also gave insights to the kids. Gopher tortoises dwell only on land, so they could drown if placed in a lake or stream.
