DUNEDIN — Kissimmee Osceola showed why it’s one of the state’s premier programs Saturday afternoon at Dunedin High School.
The Kowboys blew out everyone in their path to win the 10th Annual Falcon Duals, taking down Class 2A sixth-ranked Lake Gibson 52-19 in the afternoon final.
Osceola went 5-0 on the day and shut out two opponents – Braden River (83-0) and Clearwater (82-0).
Fox Baldwin, ranked as the nation’s No. 8 wrestler at 152 pounds, competed at 160 Saturday and excelled as expected. The junior pinned all four of his opponents in the first round, with three of those coming in under 40 seconds. Baldwin’s other win was by forfeit.
The tournament’s host, Dunedin, finished 3-2 along with Bradenton Southeast. Tarpon Springs and Lakeland McKeel Academy finished 2-3, Sarasota Booker went 1-3 and Braden River and Clearwater went 1-4.
Dunedin’s Stephen Nicholls (160 pounds) earned two pins, with one coming against Osceola’s Blake Fuller. Andrew Talhouk wrestled at 138 pounds for Dunedin and picked up a first-round pin against his McKeel Academy opponent and also beat Osceola’s Richard Bermudez.
