UPDATE: Clearwater wins World Series

Clearwater took care of business on national television Wednesday night, holding on to beat Puerto Rico 2-1 for the Big League World Series title.
Representing the Southeast region at an annual international tournament in Easley, S.C., the squad made up of primarily North Pinellas all-stars went up 2-0 in fourth and never relinquished that lead.
Palm Harbor University graduate Brian Auerbach went the distance for Clearwater, surrendering his only run in the top of the seventh.
Clearwater finished the tournament 5-1 overall, with its only loss coming against host team SC District 1 last weekend.
Puerto Rico entered the championship game as the tournament's only unbeaten team.
Clearwater's 16-man roster is managed by Matt Morrow. The players are: Brian Auerbach (PHU), Cameron Churchill (East Lake), Brad Deppermann (East Lake), Derek Gibree (Clearwater Central Catholic), Justin Glover (Dunedin), Tyler Hawks (River Ridge), Trevor Jensen (Dunedin), Ian Lisle (East Lake), Tim Luth (Dunedin), Keegan Maronpot (East Lake), Ethan Olivero (PHU), Brenden Overton (CCC), David Paul (CCC), Jordan Pendleton (IMG Academy), Tyler Simmons (CCC) and Zach Taylor (Countryside).
