TARPON SPRINGS — Tarpon Springs High School will hold its Athletic Hall of Fame Tailgate Party 4–6 p.m. Friday at Chili’s Grill and Bar.
The tailgater, held prior to the Spongers’ Friday night home football game against Boca Ciega, is a fundraiser to support January’s ceremony inducting the Athletic Hall of Fame’s inaugural class.
Ten percent of food proceeds ordered at Chili’s will go toward the Athletic Hall of Fame. Guests to Friday’s tailgate are instructed to mention why they are there so that the donations are submitted. Chili’s will also provide free chips and salsa for participants.
Sound systems may be set up during the tailgate and the KIA Trolley will be on site.
The school created the Athletic Hall of Fame in the past year and athletic director Kris Toscani recently released the names its 22-member inaugural class.
Toscani stated in an email earlier this month that the inauguration ceremony has been pushed back to January to help make it “bigger and better.”
The Hall of Fame’s first class consists of former athletes and coaches from the Spongers football team (12), boys soccer (3), volleyball (3), girls soccer (1), baseball (1), basketball (1) and wrestling (1).
