Out-of-School Beach Bash set for Saturday

TARPON SPRINGS — The minutes probably can’t tick away fast enough, but students’ favorite day of the school year – the last one – is nearly here.

Classes in Pinellas County officially let out for summer next Wednesday.

Prior to that day of widespread revelry, the city of Tarpon Springs is inviting area students to Sunset Beach for its 2014 Out-of-School Beach Bash at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Students from Grades 1–12 are invited to attend and participate in the event’s activities. There will be a tomato sauce pit tug of war, float races hosted by Tarpon Springs-based Seal Swim School, a mini-triathlon organized by Tarpon Springs Total Fitness, sand castle building contests, hula hoop contests, sling shot contests, a foam party and DJ from Astro Skate, a trivia contest with Mayor David Archie, the Dunedin Blue Jays mascot, giveaways and more.

For more information on the celebration at the beach, contact the Tarpon Springs Recreation Department at (727) 942-5628.
