A Michigan motorcyclist suffered serious injuries this morning when a car turned in front of him, causing him to crash in Palm Harbor.
The crash, which occurred around 9:30 a.m., closed southbound lanes on U.S. 19 at Nebraska Avenue until 10 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The FHP said Charles Gibbard, 59, of Riverview, Michigan, was riding southbound on U.S. 19, in the inside lane north of Nebraska Avenue, when an unidentified driver made a U-turn in front of him.
Gibbard overturned after swerving to avoid a collision, the FHP said.
Gibbard was airlifted to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with serious injuries, the FHP said.
