TARPON SPRINGS — Downtown is for the dogs Saturday afternoon.
For the third year The Artists’ Faire Fine Art Gallery and Gifts will hold its Dog Daze Celebration from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at its 111 E. Tarpon Ave. storefront.
Local dog owners and their four-legged family members are welcome to sniff around the gallery and take part in this year’s expanded event.
The Suncoast Animal League, a Palm Harbor no-kill shelter, will participate for the first time Saturday and show off a selection of adoptable pooches.
“I don’t really know what to expect this year because of the fact that we have the Suncoast Animal League,” said Sherry Dunning, tourism specialist with the event’s organizer, the Tarpon Springs Chamber of Commerce. “It’s definitely going to be different from what it was last year.”
Back again for a third year will be the event’s featured attraction: free professional photography for dog owners and their pets.
“People can bring little Fido in and get their picture taken with the dog, or just have the dog pictured by itself,” Dunning said.
Kenny Hatcher II of K2 Photography provides the snapshots, which include a selected dog-related backdrop. The free photos are provided on a first-come, first-served basis, so guests are advised to show up early.
Included in the event is a display of various dog-centric works of art created by local artists in the gallery.
Pupcakes Etc., a Palm Harbor-based business, is also involved in the event, providing samples of homemade doggie treats, birthday cakes and more made with all-natural ingredients.
