NEW PORT RICHEY - Area business buccaneers are drawing up plans to invade the area starting Thursday for the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce's Invasion to Business Success membership drive.The pirate theme will run throughout the two-week "raid," which will take place July 11-25, according to Dan Sullivan, the chamber's events and marketing coordinator. The Invasion by Ye Krewe of West Pasco launches with a kickoff party at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ford of Port Richey, 10715 U.S. 19.Leading the charge at the Thursday party will be Tina Shelton and Mike Chissell. Shelton, with the Scott M. McPherson law firm, is board president of the chamber's Young Professionals Group. Chissell, from Innovative Mortgage Services, is the board chair for the Chamber Ambassadors group.Participants will receive a treasure map to direct them to their booty. Chamber members collect a gold coin each time they visit and "pillage" a Chamber event or sponsor during the two-week event.Stops along the treasure hunt will include the Chamber of Commerce dinner at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, at Spartan Manor, 6121 Massachusetts Ave., New Port Richey. Business coach Ford Kyes will speak.The dinner will start at 6 p.m. after the social and cash bar. Tickets cost $20 apiece that includes tax and gratuity. Reservations are due by the end of Thursday by calling the chamber office at (727) 842-7651.This year's event also will feature two seminars presented by marketing strategist Gil Effron. There will be many other activities, including brochure exchanges, ribbon cuttings, an Ambassador luncheon, a Painting with a Twist event and a Tampa Bay Storm game.Participants can turn in their gold coins for tickets and prizes at the expo and mixer that concludes the membership drive. The Treasure to Success wrap-up party will take place 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at the Verizon Event Center, at the intersection of Little and Trouble Creek roads.
