Pasco County Fair features local contestants

DADE CITY — Contestants brought a West Pasco connection to the Pasco County Fair.

Cheyenne Killinger, 5, of New Port Richey, wowed the audience at the Pasco Showcase of Talent with her a cappella rendition of the National Anthem.

Although she didn’t win, Cheyenne stole the hearts of the standing-room-only crowd at the contest on opening day, organizers said.

At the Celebrity Milk-Off event, U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis, R-Palm Harbor, competed against Jack Armstrong, Sheriff’s Office District 2 captain.

In youth exhibits, trophy winners included Emily Castro, River Ridge Middle School, in original art with her string art entry and Alison Resnick, J.W. Mitchell High School, for her paper mache, “Save the Polar Bears” scene.

Outstanding exhibit awards went to Zack Wilson, River Ridge Middle School, for a still life photo; and Skate Cancello, J.W. Mitchell High School, for a mosaic picture.

Scheduled to appear at the Miss Heart pageant were Javaya Maray Hubbard, 6, of Port Richey, and Eileen Elizabeth Hedger, 16, of Trinity.

The fair continues through Sunday. Gate admission is $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 through 12. Children younger than 6 are free. Parking is also free. Call (352) 567-6678 or go to the fair website for information.
