Cotee River Seafood and Blues Festival launches Friday

NEW PORT RICHEY - Sims Park is the place to be this weekend when the Cotee River Seafood & Blues Festival launches three days of fun, food and music.
Greater New Port Richey Main Street produces the bash along the banks of the Pithlachascotee River with family-friendly activities in mind.
For the 2013 edition, the New Port Richey-based Michael Allman Band will help set the proper blues-rock mood Friday night when the group takes to the stage 9-10:30 p.m. Michael Allman is the son of Southern rock pioneer Gregg Allman.
The Saturday slate will start at 7 p.m., featuring performances by Betty Fox Blues Band, Willie Lomax and Shawn Brown.
Sarasota Slim will perform 3:30-5 p.m. Sunday.
Attendees can chow down on fresh seafood and many other taste-tempting treats.
Weekend activities will include a boat and water sports show, arts and crafts show, activities for children and a classic car cruise-in.
Hours will be 5-11 p.m. Friday, from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday. Spectators should bring chairs and blankets, but leave coolers at home.
