A dual college signing ceremony was held at Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School for baseball player Adam Berry and football player Marcus Bezerra.

SHADY HILLS — Bishop McLaughlin High School hosted a National Signing Day ceremony on Wednesday morning, as the Hurricanes has two athletes sign with their respective colleges.

Adam Berry, a member of the baseball team, signed with Pasco-Hernando State College, while football player Marcus Bezerra has committed to Southern Virginia University, in Buena Vista, Virginia, A Division III school, the Knights are is a member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

Berry had just committed to play for the Bobcats a couple weeks ago. Last year when the Hurricanes went 19-8 in the 2019 baseball season, Berry was one of the team’s top hitters. As a junior, Berry batted .342, scored 25 runs and had 27 hits. He also had seven doubles, two triples and nine runs batted in.

As for Bezerra, the defensive lineman was one of the best players for the Hurricanes, who went 1-7 in the 2019 campaign. The senior end racked up 27 tackles, five of them went for a loss. Bezerra also notched a sack.

The dual signing ceremony for Berry and Bezerra took place at the school’s media center with several teammates of both players taking part.
