Dunedin Girls Soccer
THIS WEEK’S FEATS
The Dunedin High girls soccer program captured its first district championship in 25 years by beating rival Tarpon Springs last Friday, 3-1. The achievement also returns the Falcons to the postseason in back-to-back years. The only other time Dunedin did that was in 1995-96 and 1996-97.
As District 4A-7 champs, No. 3 Dunedin gets to host Wednesday’s region quarterfinal match against Cape Coral Mariner. The Falcons entered regional play as district runners-up last year and beat Robinson 4-0 in the first round before falling to Largo in the region semis. Last year’s quarterfinal victory was the program’s second-ever and first since 1995-96.
