Cross Country/Senior

Valby’s second-place finish at the Class 4A state cross country meet represented the best of her high school career as well as the best of any East Lake runner in program history. The senior ran a time of 17:30.20. Valby finished third in last year’s Class 3A state meet and bettered her time at Tallahassee Apalachee Regional Park by 29.87 seconds.

Valby’s will continue her academic and athletic careers at the University of Florida. Before she gets there, she’ll pace the girls track and field team this spring. Topping the list of accomplishments last year was Valby running the fastest 3,200-meter race in the history of the state championship meet.
