River Ridge had problems holding onto the ball in its 35-7 spring game loss to Tampa’s Berkeley Prep.

Spring football practices in the state of Florida will began to wrap up last week and Pasco County featured many of its programs playing a spring game to finish out heading into the summer. We take a look at each of the results for the games that were played on May 16th.

• Tampa Berkeley Prep 35, River Ridge 7: The Royal Knights gave themselves one of the tougher challenges a Pasco County team would face over the spring facing a talented Berkeley Prep club. Three interceptions thrown by starting quarterback Travis Hawks would prove vital, as River Ridge fell 35-7 at home. Hawks threw for 105 yards on 12-of-22 passing and the leading receiver for the Royal Knights would be Quinton Stedman (six catches, 52 yards).

• Mitchell 43, Hudson 6: It’s never been a mystery who the go-to-guy would be for Mitchell heading into the spring. The contest against Hudson only validated Tyler Williams’ heir to the throne. The running back rushed for nearly 200 yards and scored twice in leading the Mustangs to a 43-6 victory over Hudson. Williams picked up from where he left off in 2018 after rushing for 1,636 yards.

• Clermont East Ridge 28, Zephryhills 24: In what looked like a potential spring game victory for the Bulldogs ended up being a narrow loss in the end. Zephryhills carried a 24-14 lead heading into the fourth quarter but were not able to hold on against the Knights in a 28-24 loss. The Bulldogs got behind 14-6 but scored 18 consecutive points to go ahead 24-14. Two fourth quarter touchdowns by the Knights, including one with 14 seconds left to go, did the Bulldogs in.

• Zephryhills Christian Academy 34, Fivay 10: The Warriors flexed their proverbial muscle in a 34-10 rout of the Falcons in spring action. Zephryhills Christian carried a 21-3 lead heading into halftime and continued to remain in control for the second half, out-scoring Fivay 13-7.
