Pasco County All-Star football game moves locations

SPRING HILL — The annual Pasco County All-Star game has been played in the middle of the county, at Sunlake High School, the last five years. That location has now been changed.

First reported by Alejandro Tamayo and confirmed by Bishop McLaughlin’s athletics, the All-Star event will now be played at Bishop McLaughlin High School on Thursday, Dec. 17. The date has been pushed back as well, because Mitchell is in the playoffs this week against Orlando Edgewater.

One reason why the event may have been moved is that the Pasco County School District announced that spectators can no longer attend indoor or outdoor athletics events, and only coaches, players and officials would be able to attend.

One contest that was moved already was Zephyrhills’ region semifinal playoff game against Orlando Jones. The Bulldogs, who were supposed to host the game, made the last-minute switch and traveled to downtown Orlando to face the Fightin’ Tigers. Zephyrhills ended up falling 32-0 on the road to Jones.

Some thought the All-Star game may still take place at Sunlake High School without the presence of any fans, but alternative ideas were in the works. Bishop McLaughlin is one of two private schools that have a football stadium on campus, with the other being Zephyrhills Christian Academy.
