Chad Walker, after two seasons at Land O’ Lakes, has resigned as head football coach. The Gators went 7-3 in 2018 but only 2-8 in 2019.

LAND O’ LAKES — It’s been nearly two months since Pasco County’s last prep football team took the field back in November of last year, and the county has now seen its first opening of the off-season.

Chad Walker has resigned as the head coach at Land O’ Lakes High School, via a text message. Walker confirmed the news of his resignation after the Land O’ Lakes football head coach position was posted as vacant on the Pasco County School District website Thursday morning.

Walker had just completed his second season as the school’s head coach, finishing 2-8 for the 2019 campaign. Walker finishes his two seasons at the school and compiled a record of 9-11. Land O’ Lakes went 7-3 in Walker’s first season and after getting hit hard with graduation, the Gators spiraled to just two wins this past year.

Walker took over the fledgling program from Brian Wachtel, who went 4-5 back in 2017. In taking over the team, Walker improved the program in the win column behind the stellar play of quarterback Ethan Forrester.

Now with Walker stepping away and winter workouts taking place, the Gators are now without a football coach as spring football is three months away.
