Winning all but five of their first 20 games of the season, the Anclote Sharks are getting scoring punch from Jalen Cooper and Jakob Hester.

HOLIDAY — The arguably best team in Pasco County resides in the very southwest corner of the county and has been making a lot of noise heading into the new year.

That team is Anclote, which holds a record of 15-5 and has picked up some impressive victories as of late with just a few games left to go in the regular season. The Sharks recently defeated IMG Academy, Brooksville Nature Coast and Wesley Chapel to kickoff 2020 year.

The Sharks, with its 15-5 start, are atop of a tough Class 4A, District 8, which includes the likes of Nature Coast, Wesley Chapel and Cypress Creek. Anclote being able to come away with a possible district championship amongst the current group of teams they’re aligned with would be a very impressive feat.

Nature Coast and Wesley Chapel are annually teams that contend for district championships and there’s other clubs within the district that usually contend as well. Anclote is led in the scoring department right now by Jalen Cooper, who is averaging 23.2 points per game. Fellow teammate Jakob Hester is averaging 17.8.

Anclote has five games left in the season against Pinellas Park, Gulf, Wiregrass Ranch, Dunedin and Zephyrhills.
