Pinellas County commissioners will hold the first of two public hearings tonight to allow residents to weigh in on proposed tax increases for their fiscal 2014 county budget.
As part of the $1.763 billion budget, which goes into effect Oct. 1, commissioners are proposing increases to property taxes, as well as tax hikes for water, sewer, and emergency medical services.
The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the Pinellas County Courthouse, 315 Court St., in downtown Clearwater.
The meeting also will be broadcast over the county’s website at www.pinellascounty.org, and televised over PCC-TV on Bright House Channel 622, Verizon 44 and Knology Channel 18.
More information on the proposed budget is available at www.pinellascounty.org/budget.
The second public hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 17.
