COUNTRYSIDE —McMullen Booth Road at State Road 580 will be partially closed for three days as Pinellas County carries out the second phase of water main improvements at the intersection.

The water main work is scheduled to get underway around 8:30 p.m. on July 19, with a partial closure of the intersection commencing a half-hour prior. The work should be completed on the afternoon of July 21, according to Pinellas County Utilities.

The water main work will be conducted in the northwestern corner of the McMullen Booth Road-S.R. 580 intersection, near Countryside High School.

While the northwestern quadrant of the intersection is closed, southbound traffic on McMullen Booth Road will detour at Curlew Road west to U.S. 19 or be required to make a U-turn. Northbound traffic will not be able to turn west onto S.R. 580 but can continue north on McMullen Booth Road.

Westbound traffic on S.R. 580 will be permitted only to turn left or right at McMullen Booth Road. Eastbound traffic will not be impacted.

The county has variable roadside message boards in place to help motorists navigate the partial intersection closure.

Pinellas Utilities says it is installing a parallel main to provide backup for its drinking water system and prevent service interruptions. The work is being paid for from the county’s Utilities Water Capital Improvement Fund.
