BROOKSVILE — Taste of the Field, a highly anticipated event sponsored by Kiwanis Club of Brooksville Ridge, is only weeks away.

In its ninth year, the “taste competition” provides an opportunity for attendees to explore unique chef-inspired flavors in a beautifully secluded, hidden atmosphere. And it all benefits Kiwanis Club services and Foster Family programs.

On Saturday, Nov. 3, NJoy Spirit Distillery will provide the backdrop for the chef competition. From 3-7 p.m., guests will enjoy taste-sized portions of chef prepared recipes where they will then have an opportunity to judge.

Beer and wine will be available along with NJoy’s signature Wild Buck Whiskey and Mermaid Rum. Live music is provided by Barefoot Bob and the Hope.

Tickets for the event are $42, significantly less than past Taste of the Field events. Jennifer Siem, Director of Marketing at Bayfront Health and Kiwanis Club member, who took over chair of this year’s event, said she wanted to do a little “reimagining” to make the event more cost effective for attendees.

Another big change is location. “It’s been in multiple locations with a different theme,” Siem said.

This year she searched opportunities and settled on the unique beauty of NJoy Spirits, an 80-acre piece, set deep within the heart of the Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area, 13243 Commercial Way, north of Weeki Wachee.

Sponsors for the event include American Aviation Flight Academy, Law Offices of Lucas Magazine, Coastal Engineering Associates, Bayfront Health Brooksville and Spring Hill, CEMEX Materials LLC, Oak Hill Hospital, PHSC, Republic Services, Sunrise Consulting Group, TECO-Peoples Gas, Brown& Brown Insurance, Kierzynski & Associates, CPA, Njoy Spirits Distillery, Sherwood Florist, and Sir Speedy Spring Hill.

Tickets for Taste of the Field can be purchased online at or through Jennifer Siem at 352-585-0725.
