NEW PORT RICHEY – A single-vehicle accident on the night of Dec. 2 resulted in death of a pedestrian.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the truck was driving northbound on Little Road at approximately 9:57 p.m. An unidentified pedestrian was standing or walking in the roadway near the intersection with Kiowa Drive, south of State Road 52.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 44-year-old male from New Port Richey, was unable to avoid hitting the 22-year-old male pedestrian from Port Richey. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital and later died from his injuries.

The driver of the truck reported minor injuries.
