ZEPHYRHILLS – A 26-year-old Lakeland man failed to drive across train tracks and survived a collision with a CSX locomotive.

According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, the unidentified man was traveling eastbound on Lynbrook Drive, east of Elwood Road, in Zephyrhills at about 12:08 a.m., Thursday.

He attempted to drive his sedan through a railway crossing, but the car somehow became immobilized, reports state, and was struck by a northbound CSX train. The impact propelled the vehicle northwest and it overturned. The car came to rest right-side-up, facing southwest.

The car's driver was wearing his seatbelt and escaped the incident with minor injuries.
