NEW PORT RICHEY – A deadly motorcycle accident reported in October may have been caused by another motorist, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

On Oct. 17, a motorcyclist was killed in a nighttime accident on Rowan Road near the intersection of Ballie Drive. Initial FHP reports stated that the incident was a single-vehicle wreck, with the motorcyclist losing control while traveling northbound on Rowan Road.

Sunday afternoon, FHP released an update on the crash and it's now believed another vehicle may have played a part in the fatal accident.

Updated reports state that a late-model Ford pickup truck may have made a lane change and entered the path of the motorcycle, resulting in the loss of control.

The pickup truck is described as being silver with a full-size bed. "The truck appeared to be slightly lifted, with rear-tinted windows," the FHP update states.

The FHP included a description of the driver as a white male with dark hair and "possibly 25-40 years of age."

Anyone with details regarding the case is asked to contact the FHP at 813-558-1800.
