ZEPHYRHILLS – A two-vehicle accident Sunday morning on Chancey Road resulted in the death of one driver and serious injuries to two others.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a sedan driving northbound on Chancey Road in Zephyrhills failed to negotiate a left curve and crossed into the southbound lane. A pickup truck driven by a 61-year-old Zephyrhills man was traveling in the southbound lane and the vehicles collided, nearly head-on.
The accident on Chancey Road occurred north of Correia Drive.
The impact caused the sedan to rotate and come to rest partially in the outside, northbound grass shoulder. The pickup truck rotated and overturned before coming to rest in the outside, southbound grass shoulder.
The driver of the sedan, whose age and place of residence was not released, died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the pickup truck, who was wearing a seatbelt, is reported to have suffered serious injuries. An 81-year-old female passenger in the pickup truck, also wearing a seatbelt, suffered serious injuries as well. Both were transported to an area hospital.
