CRYSTAL BEACH – Alexander Michael Paulk, 28, was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting his brother.
According to Pinellas County Sheriff's Office reports, deputies arrived at 227 Avery Ave. at about 12:02 a.m., Saturday. Several neighbors reported hearing gunshots from the home located just west of the intersection of U.S. Alternate 19 and Alderman Road.
Responding deputies discovered 36-year-old Ralph Edward Paulk III with a life-threatening gunshot wound.
An investigation discovered there was a domestic argument upstairs between the brothers. The argument continued, with both brothers coming outside and downstairs to the landing area of the staircase. As they were arguing, they were joined by their father, 61-year-old Ralph Edward Paulk Jr.
Detectives reported that as the argument escalated, Alexander Paulk said he had something for his brother, producing a handgun. Alexander Paulk then fired one round into the lower abdomen of his older brother.
Reports state that Alexander Paulk immediately fled the scene on foot, only to return a short time later. When interviewed by detectives, the suspect claimed to not know about the incident.
Alexander Paulk was arrested and charged with attempted murder, then transported to the Pinellas County Jail.
The victim, Ralph Edward Paulk III, was transported to a local trauma center and remained in the hospital with life-threatening injuries as of Saturday afternoon.
