Elementary and high school students needing to update their addresses or register for school have until July 18 to turn in address verifications and other required documents, ensuring that they'll receive information and be signed up for bus transportation next school year, said school district spokeswoman Melanie Marquez Parra.
Students can turn in the documentation at their assigned schools, where office workers should be on duty; elementary and middle school students can also turn in paper work at the school district's Student Administration building, a 301 Fourth St. S.W., Largo.
Parents can find their children's assigned schools through the Zoned School Locator on the school district's website, www.pcsb.org. They can also sign up their children for full and part-time Pinellas Virtual School classes until July 19.
To help families register for next school year, which begins Aug. 19, the student assignment office will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and will have extended hours from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on July 30. For information, call (727) 588-6210.
Most schools should be open through July 24, except for Carwise, Clearwater Fundamental, Tyrone and Tarpon Springs middle schools, but parents should still call ahead to ensure a school is open, Parra said in an email.
Address verification documents include a utility bill, rental agreement or lease, closing document or Pinellas County tax statement with a homestead exemption. The district is recommending parents provide two forms of verification. If parents or guardians do not have any of these items, they must submit a notarized Affidavit of Residency.

Students must be 5 years by Sept. 1 to attend kindergarten.
