ZEPHYRHILLS – The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a 16-year-old girl riding a bicycle was struck and killed by a vehicle this morning.
The incident occurred at 8:28 a.m., Jan. 6, on Autumn Palm Drive in Zephyrhills. Reports state that a 27-year-old Zephyrhills woman was driving a sedan southbound on Autumn Palm Drive, approaching Tucker Road. The residential area is west of Gall Boulevard and north of Chancey Road. The teen, also from Zephyrhills, was positioned in the southbound lane of Autumn Palm Drive and the FHP report states that the motorist failed to observe the teen and collided with her.
The teen was airlifted to an area hospital with serious injuries, where she later died.
