A reward fund for a tip that leads to an arrest in a south Brooksville shooting death has been doubled as Hernando County detectives developed information regarding several potential witnesses who are refusing to come forward.

The Florida Sheriff’s Association Criminal Apprehension Assistance Program has pledged an additional $5,000 in reward money, matching a Hernando County Crime Stoppers reward of up to $5,000.

Dispatchers received calls in reference to a shooting about 8 p.m. on Feb. 3. Deputies responded to 823 Twigg St., where they found one individual dead from an apparent gunshot wound. Another victim was en route to an area hospital in a private vehicle with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, and a 13-month-old child had an abrasion to the torso that appeared to be the result of being grazed by a bullet.

No additional details are available at this time as the investigation remains fluid.
