HOLIDAY – Authorities are searching for the driver of a Volkswagen sedan that slammed into a Holiday home Sunday night, causing serious injuries to two residents.

According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, the motorist was driving northbound on Pleasure Drive approaching Darlington Road at about 8:55 p.m., Dec. 27. Reports state that the driver failed to stop at the intersection’s stop sign and continued north while attempting to make a left turn onto Darlington Road. The turn attempt failed, however, and the vehicle entered the north shoulder and collided with the east wall of a home at 4115 Darlington Road, as well as portions of a wooden fence at 4121 Darlington Road.

Following the crash, the driver fled the scene on foot and has not been located, despite an extensive search, the FHP report stated.

The residents of the home that was rammed, a 33-year-old male and 31-year-old female, both suffered serious injuries and were transported to an area hospital.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the FHP at 813-558-1800 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
