ZEPHYRHILLS – A two-vehicle accident in Zephyrhills Friday morning resulted in the death of one person and serious injuries to two others.

According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, the deadly wreck occurred at about 7:33 a.m., Dec. 11, at the intersection of Old Lakeland Highway and Otis Allen Road. The location is south of U.S. Highway 98 and east of U.S. Route 301.

Reports state that a 40-year-old Zephyrhills woman driving an SUV was traveling eastbound on Otis Allen Road and stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Old Lakeland Highway. A second vehicle, a truck operated by a 45-year-old man from Dade City, was traveling southbound on Old Lakeland Highway approaching the intersection. The SUV then turned left into the path of the truck, causing a collision.

The truck’s point of impact was to the driver’s side of the SUV, causing the SUV to rotate and come to a final rest on the east shoulder of Old Lakeland Highway. As the truck rotated it also overturned on the same east shoulder.

The accident killed the 40-year-old driver of the SUV. The driver of the truck and an 18-year-old male passenger, also from Dade City, suffered serious injuries that required medical treatment.
