ODESSA – A two-vehicle accident on the morning of March 2 in Odessa resulted in the death of one motorist and serious injuries to the other, according to Florida Highway Patrol reports.
The media alert states that a van driven by a 52-year-old Odessa man was traveling westbound on S.R. 54 and an SUV operated by a 17-year-old female from Odessa was heading eastbound on S.R. 54. At approximately 10:29 a.m., March 2, the van turned south at the intersection of Black Lake Road, crossing the eastbound lanes. That turn caused the van to enter into the path of the SUV, resulting in the front of the SUV colliding with the passenger side of the van, according to the FHP.
The location of the accident is just east of Gunn Highway.
The 52-year-old driver of the van suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene of the crash, FHP reports state.
The teenage driver of the SUV suffered serious injuries, according to the report, and was transported to an area hospital.
Both motorists were wearing a seat belt, according to the FHP.
