SPRING HILL – One person was killed after a manufactured home caught fire Saturday morning in Spring Hill.
According to Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services, an off-duty deputy put out most of the fire before firefighters arrived at the mobile home in the 7000 block of Sealawn Drive at 11:20 a.m. The deputy also found the remains of a deceased occupant inside.
When they arrived, firefighters found heavy smoke pouring out of the mobile home and had the fire under control at 11:31 a.m. The fire caused moderate damage to the mobile home, according to a press release.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office, which is working with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office to explore the death of the occupant, whose identity has not been released.
