BROOKSVILLE – A single-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 19 during the early morning hours Wednesday resulted in the death of a 29-year-old Port Richey man.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the victim was driving a sedan southbound on U.S. 19, north of State Road 50, at about 1:06 a.m., Jan. 13. The vehicle is reported to have partially entered the median for unknown reasons. Reports state that the driver over-corrected and traveled back across the roadway, entering the shoulder and striking two traffic signs and a tree. The impact with the tree caused the driver, who reports state was not wearing a seatbelt, to be ejected from the vehicle .

First responders transported the man to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries.
