HUDSON — In August, a spokesman for Lakeland-based Publix Super Markets said construction the replacement of the Publix store at the intersection of State Road 52 and Little Road was on pace for a September opening.
That turned out to be a spot-on prediction.
Inflatable “Grand Opening” signs are up at the store.
The 46,000-square foot store with a pharmacy and an adjacent stand-alone Publix liquor of 2,600 square feet replaces a building that opened in 1989 as a Jewel-Osco supermarket.
The former Publix in Tower Oaks closed Nov. 11 so the demolition and construction of the two replacement stores could get underway. The new stores were constructed with Publix’s latest interior layout and color schemes, according to Brian West, public affairs, media and community relations manager for Publix Super Markets.
