After months of demolition and site preparation and a May groundbreaking, aboveground construction is underway at Gables at Gulf View, the apartment complex being built behind the Gulf View Square shopping mall, in Port Richey.

The first of two planned phases of Gables at Gulf View includes 312 apartment units. The apartment complex is being developed by B&Z of Port Richey, a company created by Miami-based Dorvidor Management.

The apartments are being built on the west side of the mall, on what used to be retail space last occupied by Macy’s and JCPenney that was demolished, and a portion of the rear parking lot.

Irene Bartram, the owner of Dorvidor management, said Gables at Gulf View is “filling a void in Pasco County” for affordable rental housing.

Dorvidor also owns the Park Place apartment complex, across U.S. 19-Gulf Coast Highway from Gulf View Square.
