Grammy-Award winning, platinum-selling iconic folk duo Indigo Girls return with their small band to Ruth Eckerd Hall for the first time since 2013. After 30 years in the music business and selling over 14 million records, they are still going strong.
Amy Ray and Emily Saliers are the only duo with Top 40 titles on the Billboard 200 in the ’80s, ‘90s, ‘00s and ‘10s. They released their critically acclaimed debut album in 1988 to thunderous praise. It remained on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart for 35 weeks, earning double platinum status. Since then, the band has racked up a slew of gold and platinum records and earned the respect of high profile peers-turned-collaborators from Michael Stipe to Joan Baez.
Indigo Girls embarked on a bold new chapter in 2012, collaborating with a pair of orchestrators to prepare larger-than-life arrangements of their songs to perform with symphonies around the country. It was a challenging endeavor, to say the least, but the Grammy-winning duo managed to find that elusive sonic sweet spot with the project, creating a seamless blend of folk, rock, pop, and classical that elevated their songs to new emotional heights without sacrificing any of the emotional intimacy and honesty that have defined their music for decades.
After more than 50 performances with symphonies across America, the experience was finally captured in all its grandeur on the band’s 2018 album “Indigo Girls Live with the University of Colorado Symphony Orchestra.”
Becky Warren will open the show.
