The Mersey Beatles, an all-Liverpool-born Beatles tribute band, plays Oct. 5 at Central Park Performing Arts Center in Largo.

LARGO – The Mersey Beatles, an all-Liverpool-born Beatles tribute band and the house band for over 10 years at the world-famous Cavern Club, will play Friday, Oct. 5, 8 p.m., at Central Park Performing Arts Center, 105 Central Park Drive, Largo.

Tickets start at $24.50. Call 727-587-6793 or visit largoarts.com.

The Mersey Beatles are no ordinary tribute band. The lads grew up as childhood and schoolmate friends, just like the Beatles. They are the official Beatles tribute band representing the city of Liverpool and for over a decade, they were the resident tribute band at The Cavern Club, the nightclub in Liverpool, England, where The Beatles perfected their act before launching a global rock music revolution in the 1960s.

“The Mersey Beatles do all the same kind of banter and crowd involvement, but it's not rehearsed or fake, that's just how they are,” said Steve Panter, former booking manager for The Cavern Club, on the band’s website. “If the Beatles were still going today, they'd be exactly like The Mersey Beatles.”

Since 1999, the band has played sell-out shows in more than 20 countries, recreating the Beatles’ most popular hits. The show spans the Fab Four’s entire catalogue, and with four costume changes and authentic Liverpool accents, wit and charm. The Mersey Beatles re-create the Beatles’ sound and image with amazing accuracy using replica Hofner, Rickenbacker and Gretsch guitars and VOX and Ludwig gear.
