PODS Enterprises Inc., the company that delivers storage containers to customers’ doors, is moving its headquarters to a new office in Clearwater and expanding its existing offices. Stacey Swank of Pinellas County’s Economic Development office said PODS is moving its headquarters from its existing building at 5585 Rio Vista Drive in Clearwater to a new location about four miles away, inside the Feather Sound Corporate Center at 13535 Feather Sound Drive. The company will keep operating its Rio Vista Drive facility as its national sales and service center, and will upgrade that office to inclue more training facilities. PODS has added 324 employees this year, creating demand for the extra room, a Pinellas County news release said. The state and Pinellas County are encouraging the company to add another 60 positions and make a $2.1 million capital investment by 2016. If PODS hits those goals, it will earn $240,000 in economic incentive money, with 20 percent coming from the county and 80 percent from the state, Swank said.
“Moving our corporate headquarters into the larger location in Feather Sound also allows us to expand the size of our National Sales and Service Center at our current location,” PODS Enterprises Chief Executive Officer John Koch said in a prepared statement. “We are very excited about our relocation and are happy to be staying in Pinellas County.” PODS was founded in 1998 by a former firefigher-turned-entrepreneur Pete Warhurst. He sold the company in 2007 to a Middle Eastern investment firm called Arcapita Inc. in a deal worth around $430 million.
